Harry Middleton and later his son Bob Middleton of the Mack Sign Co. painted this sign numerous times from the early 1950s until ca. 1982. Bob recalls: "I worked on it with my father, who painted it ??? times before me but I remember working on it sometime between 1955 and 1958. The next time was in 1961 and again in 1962. ... Mr. Bieatti [paid] my father to come back the next year for a repaint and he passed away and never told his boys who took over the business and when we showed up they almost started to cry because their father was quite a man."
Mack Sign Co. also painted the raised letters on the front of the building.
