L. V. Hoffman & Co. were in business in New York from 1942 to 1987, and they were located at 62 W. 45th St. from 1943 to 1980. The proprietor was Louis V. Hoffman (1891-1976). Louis Hoffman, age 51, registered for the World War II draft in 1942 when employed at L. V. Hoffman Co., Inc., 6 E. 39th St. He lived at 98 Riverside Drive in Manhattan, and said that he was born 26 January 1891 in New York City.

The following notices appeared in the New York Times, 9 April 1976, when Hoffman died:

"Hoffman - Louis V., dearly beloved husband of Dorothy (nee Bach), devoted father of Jane Aronson, brother of Millie Alpert, dear grandfather of James and Richard Wallenstein and great-grandfather. Services 1 P.M., Friday, April 9, 1976, Frank E. Campbell, Madison Ave. at 81st St."

"Hoffman - Louis V. It is with profound sorrow to note the sudden passing of Louis V. Hoffman, President of L. V. Hoffman & Co. Inc. on Wed., April 7, 1976 at his residence. He has been highly esteemed in real estate for over 50 years. He was a member of The Real Estate Board of New York, and Member of the National Board of Realtors. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Bach Hoffman, his sister Mrs. Millie Alpert, his daughter, Mrs. Jane Aronson of Austin, Texas, two grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 9, at 1 P.M. at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel, 81 St. and Madison Ave. He was esteemed by his associates, loved by his friends, and respected by all. He will inspire us to continue the good work to which he was so deeply committed as president, friend, and business associate. L. V. Hoffman & Co., Inc."
